Munich actress Jutta Speidel builds on her grandmother’s experiences when it comes to saving money. “She had ten siblings and was very good at keeping house,” said the 68-year-old from the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (Friday). For example, no food was thrown away – leftovers were made into a new meal by adding additional ingredients. “My parents did the same thing, I think that’s a very healthy attitude.”

Speidel, who is known from the TV series “Um Himmels Willen” and “All my daughters”, among other things, runs two houses for homeless children and women with her non-profit association “Horizont” and also gives tips for saving money here – for example in the form of practical help when shopping. “Because we noticed that there are mothers who stand in the supermarket and don’t even know which foods make sense for them.” People buy randomly and the fridge is full afterwards – but half of it is thrown away. “It’s also a waste of money.”
