The previous contract of Mané in Liverpool expired on June 30, 2023. The Champions League finalist initially aimed for a transfer fee of £42.5 million, the equivalent of almost EUR 50 million. Bayern had agreed on an engagement with the attacker and his management early on. Liverpool paid the equivalent of almost 40 million euros to Southampton FC in 2016. “Therefore, there was no doubt in my mind right from the start: This is the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, also internationally,” said Mané.

Mané is his country’s record goalscorer. He won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019. In 2020 he became English champion with the team. The club had already signed a replacement for Mané with the million-dollar transfer of striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica Lisbon.
