Logic respected during the first knockout stages of the Eastbourne grass tournament. The No. 1 seed and defending champion will be in the quarter-finals on Thursday, four days before Wimbledon kicks off. Cameron Norrie, 12th in the world and the highest ranked player in this tournament, won his first match of the week, he who was exempt from the first round, to the detriment of Brandon Nakashima (54th). The Briton won 6-4, 6-2 in 1h24, serving 8 aces and saving the four break points that the American got (including three when he was serving to win the first set). He broke at 2-2 in the first set and 1-0 and 2-0 in the second to clinch his ticket to the quarters. Alex De Minaur (24th), defending champion, also won in two sets, against Lorenzo Sonego (32nd): 7-6, 6-2 in 1h34. The Australian won a first set without the slightest break in the decisive game (7-3), then pocketed the second by scoring three breaks.
