The Disciplinary Commission of the LFP heavily sanctioned AS Saint-Etienne after the incidents that took place at Geoffroy-Guichard after the play-off against Auxerre.

The nightmare continues for AS Saint-Etienne! Relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of last season, the Greens will start the next exercise with a handicap. This Thursday, the Disciplinary Commission of the LFP imposed a sanction of six penalty points, including three suspended, applicable to the 2022-2023 season.

This sanction follows the incidents which immediately followed the return barrage against Auxerre, where Pascal Dupraz’s men gave in on penalties. Just after the final whistle, many Greens supporters invaded the lawn, throwing numerous smoke bombs towards the corridor leading to the locker room. Scenes of chaos that injured at least two AJA players, while 17 supporters and 14 police officers were also affected during these serious incidents, according to the Prefecture.

At the same time, the LFP Disciplinary Committee also imposed a sanction of six games behind closed doors at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium, two of which were suspended. Another hard blow for the team now led by Laurent Batlles. The Greens have decided not to appeal these decisions.
